I was looking for a "how to" or "problems answered" board but I couldn't find one.

I hope my question is ok for this board.

I have a 2010 Subaru Forrester with about 2,200 miles on it.  I was out of town for 10 days and returned yesterday.

When I was driving to work the "check engine" light came on along with another light that I haven't figured out what it is yet.

When I got to work I took out the manual and it said that sometimes the check engine light comes on when the gas cap isn't closed correctly.  I don't pump gas so I don't know what correct is or not!  I checked to see if it was closed tightly and it wouldn't let me turn it much so I figured it was.

I started the car up and the light didn't come on so I thought all was well.

On my way home from work it came on again.

Today I got the brainy idea (??) of putting more gas in the car so that the guy at the gas station would screw the cap on correctly.  I had a half of a tank of gas when I got there.  He started to fill it up and it stopped after less than a gallon.   He kept trying but it kept stopping.  At this point I told him not to put anymore in because obviously there was a problem.

He said he could tell that there was air in the gas tank because the gas would bubble?

Does that make sense?

I am going to call Subaru tomorrow and bring it in but I thought I would see what people had to say over here first.

TIA
